3. Stored data
In the course of offering the deutschkurs-sh.de website, we collect the following data:
- Purpose: Improvement of the means of communication
To continuously improve our service, in particular the communication through our website, we carry out a usage analysis with web statistics. We use the Matomo tool for this purpose. Personal data is anonymised (the last six digits of the IP address of the site visitors are made unrecognisable – without the possibility of reconversion); cookies are only stored if the users have consented to cookies for statistics via the cookie notice displayed during their first visit. This data is not forwarded to third parties. The cookies expire after 13 months at the latest.
Legal basis: Article 6 Par. 1 Letter a) and f) GDPR - Purpose: Registration for participation/notification of need
Anyone who registers to participate or expresses an interest in participating provides their details, including their name, address, date of birth, email address, and telephone number, as well as information about their residence status (to determine their eligibility to participate) and their existing German language skills (to help assign them to the most suitable course). This information is used to enable them to participate. Data will only be passed on to third parties in the form of educational institutions in Schleswig-Holstein that have a suitable program, as well as to the parent company Landesverband der Volkshochschulen Schleswig-Holsteins e.V. (State Association of Adult Education Centers in Schleswig-Holstein) within the framework of a service contract with vhs SH Projekt-gGmbH.
For statistics and general offer planning, the data is processed anonymously.
The provision of personal data is indispensable for participation and notification of demand. If this data is not or no longer provided or if the storage is objected to, it is not possible to use the German Course Finder.
This data will be deleted after three years.

3a. Newsletter
You can subscribe to a newsletter on our websites. Please note that we require personal data to register for the newsletter, in this case your email address. The newsletter will only be sent if you have given us your express consent. The legal basis for data processing is therefore Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR.
For the administration and dispatch of newsletters, we use the Brevo service provided by Sendinblue GmbH, with whom we have concluded a data processing agreement in which the service provider undertakes to protect the security of personal data. Data processing takes place exclusively on servers in Europe.
After placing your order, you will receive a confirmation email at the email address you provided (known as a double opt-in). You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time by confirming the unsubscribe link in the newsletter or by sending an informal email to deutschkurs@vhs-sh.de requesting to be unsubscribed.
When you subscribe to our newsletter, we store additional data beyond the data already mentioned, insofar as this is necessary to prove that you have subscribed to our newsletter. This includes the IP address of the subscriber, the time, and the date of registration.
If this data is not confirmed, it will be deleted after 28 days at the latest. The corresponding data processing is carried out on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR and in the legitimate interest of being able to account for the legality of the newsletter dispatch.
4. Right to information, revocation of consent and deletion of personal data or restriction of processing
You have the right to obtain information about the personal data concerned stored under our responsibility, as well as the right to rectification or erasure or to restriction of processing.
If the processing is based on Article 6 Par. 1 Letter a), you are entitled to withdraw your consent at any time, yet without affecting the lawfulness of the processing carried out on the basis of the consent until the withdrawal. You can send a revocation informally by e-mail to ggmbh@vhs-sh.de.
